TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF NEW YORK CITY CHILDREN THROUGH DANCE
The Stars of New York Dance is a charitable, thrilling and judged dance competition for New York City leaders that raises dance education funds for children from low-income communities to help them develop discipline, confidence and self-esteem to succeed in school and in life.
Reggie and SynChana's mermaid-inspired routine earned them the title "9th Annual Dance Champions" and your support provided $5,000 in dance scholarships for children to dance at Pure Onyx Movement.
Dance Scholarship Winners
Because of your generosity, Janiya's dance dreams came true! She attended Earl Mosley's Institute of the Arts (EMIA) Summer Intensive, and enjoyed classes in ballet, modern, African, theatre, yoga, percussion, and more. Janiya was also awarded a scholarship to enroll in MOVE(NYC)'s Young Professionals Program that provides high-caliber dance education, leadership training, and year-long performance opportunities to talented and motivated New York City teenagers. This is just the beginning for Janiya, thanks to supporters like you.

“It's great for young people to see community leaders, legislators and people they see on TV get out of our element and do something unique for children. If I can make a fraction of an impact on young people that James Brown made on me, I'll dance."
