A Homecoming to Remember
"Wow! All I can say is that the 15th Anniversary Divine Nine Dance-Off now rivals any dance competition on a major network. The routines, costumes, sets, and production were all exquisite. To have been honored on this milestone year was the evening of a lifetime that I will remember forever. This honor awakened emotions inside me that I didn't know existed. I thank Cheryl Todmann and the entire Stars of New York Dance community for this high honor that still has me dancing on air," shared 15th Anniversary Stellar Humanitarian Honoree Laurie A. Cumbo, the former Commissioner of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs
It was a homecoming to remember for The Stars of New York Dance three-time dance competitor and two-time dance champion, who shared the honor had her "feeling like Beyonce," and inspired her to do more as a champion for the arts—Watch Commissioner Cumbo's stellar dance entrance to receive her award.
Special Presentations
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and The Stars of New York Dance 10th Anniversary Stellar Humanitarian Honoree brought greetings, congratulated Commissioner Cumbo, and shared well wishes to the NYC leaders competing in the Divine Nine Dance-Off.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James, one of the leaders who launched the inaugural Stars of New York Dance in 2010, received the Champion for Justice award—and a standing ovation—as she brought greetings to guests, saluted Commissioner Cumbo, and declared the power of dance to transform children's lives.
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso lauded Commissioner Cumbo for her advocacy of the arts, recognized Cheryl Todmann for her service to the community, and shared that he might participate in a future dance competition.
The Honorable Betty E. Staton, dance champion for the 4th Annual Stars of New York Dance, celebrated and commended her dear friend—and fiercest dance competitor—Commissioner Cumbo.
And The Winners Are...
Rev. Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey & Taylor Lovett
Rev. Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey, Senior Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church representing Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Taylor Lovett, founder of Taylor Lovett Dance Academy, are the 15th Anniversary Divine Nine Dance Champions. They presented a dynamic dance routine with exquisite storytelling that took the audience on a journey through time and dance genres.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to express my faith through dance. Our success came from sacrificing our time and comfort for the greater good. I believe our world is better when we sacrifice for our children—we shape the future," stated Rev. Lacey.
"Winning at The Stars of New York Dance is more than a trophy for us—it’s an opportunity. The scholarships we receive directly support Taylor Lovett Dance Academy (TLDA) by helping us provide quality training, resources, and life-changing experiences for our dancers. Every victory allows us to pour back into our youth, strengthen our programs, and continue building a safe, creative space where our students can grow, shine, and reach their fullest potential. Thank you, Stars of New York Dance, for believing in TLDA," said Taylor Lovett
Because of their win, the Taylor Lovett Dance Academy received $10,000 to provide 10 children with a full year of free dance education and training, helping students reach their full potential. The other participating dance companies each received $1,000 to provide one child with a year of dance instruction.

Special thanks to judges Troy Blackwell-Cook, Shirley Black-Brown Coward, Krystal Mackie, and Ann Tripp for sharing their expertise and providing invaluable feedback on the dance performances, which inform the audience and inspire the dance couples.
The 15th Anniversary Divine Nine Dance-Off welcomed more than 400 guests who cheered, voted and crowned Rev. Lacey and Taylor Lovett as dance champions. This event was made possible by the Charles H.
